I had a family emergency the date of our stay and was late to check in, but was aware I would be late and called hours prior to arriving to inform them, should they wish to cancel the reservation. We were assured there was not a problem with us arriving at 11pm for check-in rather than 10pm. When we arrived we were met by a very unpleasant woman who asked when we wanted to eat breakfast then was angry when we suggested 8:30am -because they like to have breakfast earlier- and became frustrated when she asked for dietary restricions and my fiancé said he was lactose intolerant.
All good
As my boyfriend and I first entered their home and signed the guestbook, the wife let us know immediately that they were disappointed in the fact that we were unwed. We were then handed religious reading material. It was awkward and uncomfortable from there on out. Additionally, we had stayed in the "nicest" room yet all of the furniture and closets were still full of the owners belongings and clothing (chest of drawers, bedside table, etc). Our trip was in October 2015 and I waited until now to post a review because I thought maybe the negativity associated with the business would fade. Sadly, it has not. We paid far too much for the accommodations provided and the unbidden judgement. It was unfortunate because we were celebrating our 5 year anniversary and we love to support small business. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Got a call the following day from the owner screaming at us for leaving and saying we would still have to pay the $200+ for our stay. So, thanks for a wonderful engagement story.
Terribly unfriendly proprietors, uncleanly rooms, and they tried to make my fiancé (who is lactose intolerant) eat an egg casserole made with milk and cheese. Charming is not an accurate description; the house is old and dated.
Very clean and great eats
Our room was filthy, with carpet stains, an earring back on the desk, a used bar of hand soap in the bathroom and a used razor in the shower. When we tried to locate the owners to let them know our concerns, they were no where to be found. We left and checked into the holiday inn down the street- much more accommodating and actually CLEAN.
Nice quiet B&B. Breakfast was excellent. Would book again!
